Pre -Operative Instructions for Scaling:
Eat regular meal before appointment.
If you are given X-rays & investigation reports, please bring them to your appointment.
There are usually no restrictions after the procedure concerning driving or returning to work.
Continue all medications for blood pressure, diabetes, thyroid problems and any other conditions as recommended by your physician.
If you have been advised by your physician or dentist to use antibiotic premedication because of mitral valve prolapse, heart murmur, hip, knee, cardiac or other prosthesis, or if you have rheumatic heart disease, make sure you are on the appropriate antibiotic on the day of your appointment.
Please brush your teeth and rinse thoroughly before appointment.

Post -Operative Instructions for Scaling:
Expect the mild bleeding for 30 – 45 minutes
You may experience sensitivity & gaps due to removal of heavy deposits. It may last for couple of days to 6 weeks
If anesthesia is given, numbness of the lip, tongue & cheeks are common following tooth removal and is usually temporary. Do not chew anything, until the anesthesia has worn off.
On The Day:
Do not spit forcibly
Do not use a straw to drink
Don not take foods at extremes of temperature (very hot or cold)
Do not smoke or Drink alcohol
Do not eat hard, hot & spicy foods for a day.
On The Second Day:
Continue with regular brushing, flossing and other cleaning methods.
Start rinsing with a mixture of 1-teaspoon salt in 8 oz of warm water. (Use mouth wash as recommended by your dentist)
